Using artwork in a different way

It has been awhile since I have posted anything here. I have been doing a few wood burning pieces here and there and have also done a few Reverse Glass pieces of work. Drawing on glass is quite different than drawing on paper that is for sure. I have done Reverse glass drawings for many years so when I got a used aquarium and saw all the clear glass my mind started working. Now most people I think proably put a piece of plastic coated paper on the outside back of aquariums. Some of the backing that your can buy has pictures of fish or plants on it. But I thought why not do something truely unique for the back of the aquarium. So I started testing varius paints on small pices of glass to see what would give me the results I wanted for the outside back of the aquarium. Well after about a week of experiementing I came up with plans for what I would put on the back of my aquarium. Instead of the traditinal fish or plants I thought why not make it look like stained glass. I love doing things different from everybody else. So I drew with my drawing pen in black ink a celtic design on the outside back of the aquarium.  From all of the testing I did on small pieces of glass I found out that model car enamel works real well. It dries quick and is a oil based product so will stand up to water and not wash off. Of course this is on the outside of the tank but still water is likely to get on the surface. After I get the design painted I will go back and put a coat of polyurtane over the painting . When I did this on small pices of glass and then tested it with water it worked just fine. And if at some point I decide I want a different picture on the aquarium then I can just scrape it all off with a razor blade and start over. So am uploading two different pics of the ink work on the back of the aquarium. I will probably start the painting tomorrw and will post pictures as I progress.
